Megan sent me a note on Facebook about three weeks ago. She had an idea… it was a secret. We could communicate only by phone… no emails. That would give away the secret too easily. The plan was to surprise Jonas with an engagement session. Make casual plans for a Saturday, get dressed up, you know… like you do every Saturday… and then I POP out of the woods with a camera in hand and start a full on photo sesh. Just like that. As Megan told me her idea over the phone I was super excited… this was like G.I. Joe status for photographers! YES, Im in! In practice though, I think we needed to put a little more thought into our strategy. Megan casually suggested Jonas clear his schedule for Saturday afternoon… she then casually suggested he get a hair cut, you know, just cuz were having a casual Saturday. Jonas caught on… “are you planning a photo session?” I believe is the first question that came out of his mouth. Megan, like me, can only smile when she gets busted in a white lie, so there was no denying it. Our secret was out! Thankfully Jonas was in like flyn…
Saturday was a gorgeous day in San Francisco… like freak of nature gorgeous in February. We found some AMAZING light beaming through the trees in San Francisco’s Presidio Park. Jonas promised to bust out the Norwegian accent should we get any trouble for our illegal parking spot in the park. We then headed to North Beach to finish things up… North Beach was a special place for Megan and Jonas as I learned they actually met at a mutual friends place not too far from where we shot. Clearly there are some memories from this classic San Francisco location that will never be lost. Along the way we grabbed a few slices at Tony’s Pizza. This is some money pizza folks! Next time you’re in North Beach make Tony’s a priority. They just opened a little slice stand next to their sit down restaurant so you can grab some grub on the go. It will make your day.
Megan and Jonas, you guys were awesome! I had a ton of fun photographing the two of you, and hope you love the images as much as I do!
